In the fall of 2017, I started posting Craigslist ads consisting of the following lyrics from Marlene Dietrich's 1948 song "Illusions": Want to buy some illusions? / Slightly used, second hand / I'll sell them all for a penny / They make pretty souvenirs.


I recorded all the responses and chose 21 to include in this book alongside tactile imagery inspired by current and historical drag artists.
